NFL preview 2012: NFC NORTH the Toughest Division in Football
NFC North arguably the toughest division in football. Not only does it have the 15-1 Packers in it and an up and coming Lions club, but it has Monsters of the Midway. In fact let’s start there. The Bears could be one of the biggest surprising but not so surprising teams this season. Let’s not forget the 7-3 start before there MVP and QB got hurt making a football play trying to make a tackle. How many other QB’s would have done that? The knock on Cutler is his lack of excitement or whatever people want to pin on him that day. The bottom line is he has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and rock solid when it comes to toughness. After all the sacks he took last year he got hurt making a tackle. He now finds himself with a bunch of toys. His buddy from Denver of course Brandon Marshall and rookie Alshon Jeffery. Can you say 4500 plus from Cutler this year?
Ok moving on the Packers. I’ll just say Aaron Rogers. I can probably end this there. They went 15-1 with one of the worst ranked defense in 2011. Now with some upgrades on that side first round pick Nick Perry from South Carolina and 2nd round pick Jerel Worthy. They knew where they needed help and even though it’s tough for me to say this franchise knows how to build winners.
The Detroit Lions didn’t make many off-season headlines except the 12 arrests they had. They seem like a bunch of thugs or at least that’s what the media is making them out to look like. As long as they clean up in house they should be fine and competing for another Wild Card spot. Stafford really separated himself last year throwing for a ton of yards. Then you have the Madden 13 Cover athlete Calvin Johnson you probably feel really good about your chances. Who will or who can stop him? I think the only thing that can stop Calvin Johnson is the Madden cover jinx.
Minnesota won the Super Bowl in the off-season. They got Minnesota to pass there stadium deal and will get a home in a few years. The question is will AP be there to open it. This team is going nowhere and you have to wonder when, yes when AP will decide he wants to play for a Super Bowl title. The way he runs he might have 3 or 4 elite years left if that. I don’t see the Vikings doing anything in the next 5.
Prediction
Packers – 14-2
Bears – 12-4
Lions – 10-6
Vikings – 2-14
3 playoffs teams are coming from the North, sorry NFC East but you can’t hang. Do you think this is the best division in football? Let me know on Twitter @NITKA32, if you don’t Ill convince you.
